The Marvelous Wonderettes

First National Tour of Off-Broadway Hit Comes to the Ashe Civic Center!

The Marvelous Wonderettes features pop tunes of the 50's and 60's. While Jersey Boys was bringing the tight-harmony guy-group music of The Four Seasons to Broadway, another show was packing the Off-Broadway Westside Theatre with tight-harmony girl-group tunes of the 1950's and 1960's.

The Marvelous Wonderettes is a funny, glittery song-and-dance revue by Roger Bean that features a trunk full of pop classics like "Lollipop," "Stupid Cupid," "Lipstick On Your Collar," "Mr. Lee," " It's My Party," "Heat Wave," "Wedding Bell Blues," "Leader of the Pack," "R.E.S.P.E.C.T.," "Rescure Me," "Son of a Preacher Man' and twenty other hits. The show opens at the Ashe Civic Center on April 25 at 7:30 pm.

The Marvelous Wonderettes begins in 1958 where we meet four Springfield High School teens performing a show for their classmates on prom night. Act Two fast-forwards ten years to 1968 where the Wonderettes gather for a class reunion - older, wiser and a little bruised by the upheavals of the Rock Revolution. The show stars four singer-actors and a live onstage band. The Marvelous Wonderettes engages the audience with song, dance and comedy and features a visually stunning wardrobe design that captures both pop eras.

Tickets for the show are $20 for adults, $5 for students and will be available on March 25 at the Ashe Arts Center or by calling 336-846-2728. Visa, Mastercard and Discover Card are accepted.
