New River Marathon Returns In June

Runners from across North Carolina, throughout the Southeast and the four corners of the nation will gather in Fleetwood for the ninth annual New River Marathon, Half Marathon and Four-Mile, which is scheduled for Saturday, June 8.

“We know that we live in a truly special place, and it’s a joy to share the beauty of the place we call home with other runners,” race director Ken Sevensky said. “The New River valley between Fleetwood and Todd is one of the most spectacular venues for running. From the conception, we wanted the runners and their families to have a great racing experience, to experience the beauty of the New River Valley, Ashe County and North Carolina’s High Country and to enjoy a taste of mountain hospitality. In addition, it’s our desire to offer races that appeal to runners of all abilities.
